South Holland and Bremen Regions Collaborating in Space

Last week was the 2022 edition of one of the leading annual space trade shows and conferences in Europe: Space Tech Expo. Held in one of the leading space cities in Europe, Bremen, this event is one of the must-be events for the European space industry.

As an important player in European space, the Netherlands was well represented in Bremen, with a bright booth, representing several key Dutch space organisations and companies. Most of the Dutch space sector is concentrated in the province of Zuid Holland (South Holland).

NL Space Pavilion

The Dutch space sector was well represented at the Space Tech Expo in Bremen. This annual event is a regular fixture for a number of Dutch companies and institutions. This year a number of new companies profiled themselves under the NL Space branding. The NL Space Pavillion was hosted by Dutch space industry association SpaceNed and the Netherlands Space Office NSO.

The NL Space pavilion featured S&T, FSO, Avatar, Cosine, Westend, NL Space Campus, Aerospace Delta, Sparkwing, and NLR. Dutch space companies TNO, Dawn Aerospace, Airborne, DARE, and ISISpace had their own large stands elsewhere on the exhibition floors.

Province of South Holland and Bremen

Collaboration is key in a global sector like space. This collaboration is often between companies or agencies, but can also be between regions. Space Tech Expo is a perfect opportunity for the province of South Holland, which is the Netherlands’ ‘Space Province’ to connect with the region of Bremen, one of Germany’s top space regions.

From South Holland to the moon

The Space Tech Expo is also a great podium for making announcements. At a side event, the Province of South Holland and the State of Bremen presented their ‘Action Agenda 2.0’, which includes plans for cooperation in innovation and student exchange.

“This fair is a great moment to come together and one of the regular appointments in our agendas,” said Renate Beausoleil of the province of South Holland.

ATG and the Radboud Radio Lab signed a letter of intent in the NL Space pavilion to work together on a radio telescope on the backside of the moon. Because it is precisely in that unique location that we can receive radiation from the early universe, which tells us something about the period between the Big Bang and the formation of the first stars.
