LDE NL Space Campus Summer School – Day 3

LDE NL Space Campus Summer School – Day 3

Today marked already the third day of the LDE (Leiden-Delft-Erasmus) NL Space Campus Summer School programme! Our on-the-spot reporter and programme participant Miraslava Kazlouskaya tells you about her experiences today:

The day started at Astron, then the group moved to the Leiden Institute of Physics, the Space Law Department of Leiden University, ending at the Leiden Old Observatory. That is four leading space research institutes in one day! An indication of the intensity of this amazing 6-day programme!

About the LDE NL Space Campus Summer School 2022

During the week particpants meet and learn about the various space programmes, developments and research activities at the Leiden, Delft and Erasmus universities. They go on a tour of space agencies, institutes and industry in South-Holland, including: ESA ESTEC, SRON, TNO, AirbusDS, SBIC, Galileo Reference Centre and of course the three universities themselves.

Starting at the NL Space Campus in Noordwijk, at ESA-ESTEC, the technical heart of ESA, participants tour the cities of Leiden and Delft before returning to Noordwijk. During the week they meet many experts and learn about the basics and recent developments in space. In the meantime they work on their team challenges.

The week also includes several fun and non-space events. Participants get to know each other and learn about each other’s strengths, knowledge and approaches to problem solving. This is important because they need to combine their individual strengths and work in interdisciplinary teams to solve key space sector challenges. This requires insights and knowledge from different backgrounds. In this process participants develop soft skills such as collaboration, communication and creative thinking.

To stimulate team building, socialising and networking, the programme includes teambuilding activities, workshops, and collaborative activities. These are combined with project team building, networking drinks, a project presentation, and an open barbecue with valuable networking opportunities at the end of this intense week.

You can find all information at the official LDE NL Space Campus Summer School website.
