Stichting dotSPACE  joins CometLab, bringing more activities to campus

dotSPACE  has joined CometLab in Noordwijk and will  be based at the facility on the NL Space Campus. In addition to using the space for day-to-day activities and meetings, the team will organise a series of on-site events, including workshops, meetups, and hackathons. As more projects and events take place at CometLab, dotSPACE will help shape its development into a vibrant hub where people come together to connect, exchange ideas, and engage in hands-on sessions.

CometLab: A new place to build and experiment on campus

CometLab is a digital manufacturing lab located at NL Space Campus, opened in October 2025 as part of the campus facilities in Noordwijk. The lab provides space for prototyping, testing, and small-scale production, with access to design tools, materials, and specialised equipment. It is used by companies, engineers, researchers, and students working on early-stage concepts and low TRL projects, as well as for training and educational activities. In addition to its technical facilities, CometLab hosts workshops, courses, and competitions, making it a place where ideas are developed and tested in practice.

What to expect from dotSPACE at CometLab

From this location, dotSPACE will carry out its regular work while being available for in-person meetings with partners, collaborators, and organisations with an interest in the  space sector. At the same time, the team will use CometLab as a place to organise activities connected to its projects. These include workshops, meetups, and hackathons. In these activities people can engage directly with topics such as space data, applications, and cross-sector use cases.

Coming up at CometLab: CASSINI Hackathon

One of the first activities at CometLab, hosted by dotSPACE , will be the 11th CASSINI Hackathon, taking place from 24 to 26 April 2026. During this hackathon, participants will work in teams to develop solutions using European space data, focusing on challenges such as water access, pollution, and disaster risk monitoring. Alongside mentoring and technical support, participants will have access to the facilities at CometLab, allowing them to test ideas, explore tools, and work directly in a hands-on setting. Beyond the competition itself, the event also creates space to meet others working across technology, research, and public sector applications.
