Introduction to Data Spaces
Last month, the EU-funded ILIAD Digital Twin of the Ocean project initiated a series of webinars and training sessions. These events cover topics ranging from technical to economics and policy. The aim of this activity is to support communication across different disciplines, ease the design process and improve engagement with ILIAD project partners.
The second webinar had the topic ‘Introduction to data spaces’ and was held online, this week.
The concept of data spaces was introduced along with examples of different thematic data spaces in Europe. The similarities and differences between these data spaces were discussed, as well as how they could be combined with data lakes and other sources of data and information.
Introduction to the data spaces concept
Innovation Director at NorwAI.ai and chief scientist at SINTEF Digital Arne-Jørgen Berre made an introduction to the concepts of data spaces, data lakes, data meshes, and repositories. Arne J. Berre is the scientific coordinator of the ILIAD, Digital Twin of the Ocean project. To watch the video with the speaker’s presentation, click below.
Overview of data spaces in Europe
An overview of the Green Deal Data spaces and the ever-evolving data spaces environment was given by Joan Maso from CREAF. Joan Masó is a Principal Investigator of CREAF’s leading specialised group on geospatial interoperability, GIS, and remote sensing. To watch the video with the speaker’s presentation, click below.
GREAT – Overview of Data Spaces and how these can be used to support digital twins of the ocean
Mattia Santoro from CNR shared his insights into community building around data spaces, a blueprint to develop data spaces, and more. Mattia Santoro is a researcher at the Division of Florence of CNR-IIA. To watch the video with the speaker’s presentation, click below.
