The region of Hesse (NEREUS member) together with NEREUS invite you to the event “Hessen in Space” – Opportunities for EU Regions from the European Space Policy with Hessen Space Coordinator Prof. Dr.-Ing. [Doctor of Enineering] Johann-Dietrich Wörner.

The European space sector has gained new perspectives with the adoption of the EU’s 2021 to 2027 space programme. Space is becoming increasingly important for the EU’s 2021 to 2027 space programme. Space is becoming increasingly important for Europe – worldwide, almost nothing works without it: navigation, telecommunications, preparedness and prevention to natural disasters, precision farming, all are based on data and capacities from space.

The growing commercialization of space leads to an increase of successful business models for companies in this sector. Regions – like Hessen – where these companies are based, are therefore strongly interested in supporting space activities. In the interest of strengthening Hessen as a space location the Hessian state government in 2021 appointed the former Director-General of the European Space Agency Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich Wörner as Hessen’s space coordinator and adopted the Hessen space strategy “Hessen in Space” in 2022. We would like to discuss the future role of the regions in the further development of the European space sector and the opportunities this brings.
