On Friday, 22 November, the Province of South Holland, in collaboration with the MKB Digiwerkplaats Haaglanden in Zoetermeer, is organising an inspiring networking session to kick off the Cassini Hackathon. This event offers entrepreneurs from the region a unique opportunity to explore the world of space data and its practical applications for businesses. Whether you are a small business owner with no technical background or a tech company with IT experience, this session is tailored for you.

During this networking event, we will showcase how innovative technologies from space exploration, such as navigation, remote sensing, and satellite communication, can help SMEs improve productivity, tap into new markets, and operate more efficiently, regardless of your current knowledge level. The networking event will be the kickoff for the Cassini Hackathon Challenge, which will take place from November 22 to 24 at the Dutch Innovation Factory in Zoetermeer.

  1. Innovation from Space by Alexandra Dousi (Netherlands Space Office)
    How advanced is the Netherlands with space data, and what impact does it have on entrepreneurs? Alexandra offers a glimpse into the world of space exploration and the innovations that have emerged from it.
  2. Data for Entrepreneurs by Valentijn Venus (University of Twente)
    What is space data, what value does it have for entrepreneurs, and how can you utilize it? Using concrete examples, Valentijn demonstrates how both small businesses and tech companies can benefit from the possibilities of space data.

18:00 – Food and Drinks, Official Start of the Cassini Hackathon
While enjoying snacks and drinks, you’ll have the chance to network with companies, students, and other stakeholders. Discover which student projects could be relevant to your business.

Cassini Hackathon: 22-24 November

Throughout the weekend, hackathon participants will work in teams to develop solutions using space data for Earth applications such as navigation, remote sensing, and satellite communication. This is a great opportunity for companies to get acquainted with the space domain, collaborate with young talent, and gain innovative ideas.
