dotSPACE Foundation and Unknown Campus Partner to Support European Space Ventures

dotSPACE Foundation and Unknown Campus have entered into a partnership to support entrepreneurs and ventures working with space technologies and satellite data across Europe.

dotSPACE’s expertise in Earth Observation, remote sensing and downstream space applications combines with Unknown Campus’s experience in entrepreneurship, venture development and market access — helping ventures strengthen their business models, identify opportunities and build the connections needed to scale.

This work is already taking shape through I3-SPACE, a European initiative involving 15 partners from eight EU countries, coordinated by the AIR Centre, a Portugal-based Atlantic research organisation, and starting on 1 October. The project accelerates the demonstration, commercialisation and scale-up of Earth Observation and GNSS-based technologies, with business cases spanning agriculture and water management, blue and coastal intelligence, urban and climate intelligence, and forestry and environmental risk.

I3-SPACE addresses a recurring challenge in the European space economy: promising technologies may be technically mature, but still face barriers around market adoption, investment readiness, regulation and access to customers. The project pairs technical development with business support, pilot demonstrations, market validation and interregional collaboration.

A key part of the project is its focus on SMEs and start-ups. Through an open-call and cascade-funding mechanism, 20 additional SMEs will be selected to test, integrate and adopt EO- and GNSS-based solutions, lowering adoption barriers and generating user feedback and evidence for the project’s business cases.

Within I3-SPACE, dotSPACE and Unknown Campus work closely on business development and market uptake. dotSPACE leads the project’s go-to-market work package, helping EO and GNSS solutions reach early adopters, improve investment readiness and build long-term commercial sustainability. Together, they also contribute to exploitation and business-model development, giving SMEs sustainable business models, investment-readiness strategies and connections with key market players.

The project links demonstrations, end-user validation, business development and market deployment, moving beyond isolated pilots toward uptake across European regions and value chains.
