WORLD SPACE WEEK 2023 FOCUSES ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The World Space Week 2023 theme will be “Space & Entrepreneurship,” it was announced today by the World Space Week Association.
Preliminary results of the most recent World Space Week (WSW), held October 4-10 annually, show a record breaking number of over 10,000 reported events in 88 countries, according to the Association.
“We want WSW 2023 to inspire students. We want them to learn not only space technology, but business as well, as they consider space careers,” said Association President Dennis Stone.
The United Nations General Assembly declared October 4-10 as World Space Week in 1999. Since then, it has grown to be the largest space event on Earth, according to the Association. Events are held by the space agencies, the industry, the UN, schools and thousands of organizations that week each year, it said.
“One doesn’t have to design a new rocket to be a space entrepreneur. Even only a computer and a new idea on how to process data from satellites can become a great business idea,” Stone said. “We hope that World Space Week 2023 will level out barriers and inspire the space entrepreneurs of tomorrow to create new space applications that enhance benefits to all humankind,’’ he said.
