Workshop: Satellite Data for Agro and Horticulture – 3 October in Zoetermeer

On 3 October 2025, the Dutch Innovation Factory in Zoetermeer will host a workshop on the role of satellite data in the agro and horticulture sector. The event is organised by dotSPACE, together with the municipalities of Zoetermeer and Lansingerland and NL Space Campus, as part of the national Weekend van de Wetenschap 2025.

Satellite data in horticultural innovation

The Zuid-Holland agro and horticulture sector is internationally recognised for its scale and innovation. In Lansingerland, companies and knowledge institutions are working to strengthen sustainable growth and future resilience. Satellite data (remote sensing) is becoming an essential tool in this transition, supporting:

  • Regional and Surrounding Environment Monitoring
  • Resource management, e.g. smarter irrigation systems
  • Early detection of crop diseases
  • More efficient use of data (yield forecasting models)

Programme highlights

The morning session combines knowledge sharing and interactive work:

  • Introduction to remote sensing and its use in agri/ horticulture
  • Case studies from companies, researchers, and public organisations
  • Interactive exercises with technology cards and canvas tools
  • Opportunity for participants to bring in their own challenges

The workshop is closely connected to the ambitions of the Horti Science Vision 2030, in which regional partners commit to strengthening Lansingerland as an international hotspot for applied research and innovation. Collaborations with institutes such as Wageningen University & Research, TU Delft, YES!Delft and StartLife are an important part of this development.
