ONDA DIAS Skills Workshop

 ONDA DIAS Skills Workshop

On Tuesday 14 June 2022 Groundstation.Space in collaboration with Serco will host a full-day workshop about using Copernicus data with ONDA DIAS. ONDA is one of five Copernicus Data Information and Access Services (DIAS), providing access to many petabytes of Earth Observation data.

About the workshop

This workshop is exclusive for SKIES participants and will give you in-depth practical experience with the ONDA Copernicus Data and Information Access Service (DIAS). You will use Sentinel-5P data on air pollution, comparing how for example the NOx concentrations in Europe changed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the workshop you will familiarise yourself with the powerful Jupyter/Python Virtual Machines that ONDA uses for EO data anlyses.

Practice your skills on 15-16 June

After the workshop you will have exclusive access to your own ONDA Virtual Machine on 15 and 16 June to further practice you skills, followed by a short closing webinar on 16 June.

About ONDA DIAS

ONDA DIAS is the Serco DIAS Big Data platform which, with the aim of facilitating, fostering and expanding the exploitation of Earth Observation satellite data and geospatial information, enables users to build and operate applications in the Cloud by providing Data, Services and Support. The ONDA paradigm is to “bring people on data”, by offering custom solutions to cover the needs of all prospective users, who range from the general public, having minimal or no knowledge of Remote Sensing, to professionals and SMEs, to public authorities, agencies and large enterprises.

ONDA DIAS platform offers free and open access to a wealth of datasets from different sources, from the Copernicus Sentinels family, to other Earth Observation satellite missions, and the Copernicus Services projects. The ONDA DIAS platform has indeed exceeded the nominal DIAS requirements, by hosting one of the largest archives ever built for geospatial data and information: the service offers free and direct access to a cloud-based repository of more than 62.4 million of products at the time of writing, which occupy a volume of more than 39 petabytes of locally-stored data.

About ONDA 4 Education

ONDA 4 Education is a service dedicated to users interested in learning how to process Copernicus Sentinel data using the ONDA DIAS infrastructure.

ONDA Earth Observation experts provide tailored training sessions on thematic applications, by demonstrating how to exploit EO data in real use-cases. The courses are built together with the users, around their needs and level of expertise. The training sessions are delivered via online interactive webinars or in a face-to-face format. In addition, participants are equipped with ONDA Virtual Machines with graphical remote desktop interfaces and pre-installed open source software tools (e.g. SNAP, QGIS and Python), along with a privileged direct access to the Cloud-based Copernicus Sentinel data and information.
