Call for Tender for Copernicus EMS
The Copernicus programme has opened a call for tender for rapid mapping solutions under its Emergency Management Service (EMS)
Floods are among the costliest natural disasters in Europe and in the world, and represent around 30% of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) Rapid Mapping activations. The Rapid Mapping service delivers post-event crisis information in a very fast way, generally within hours from the disaster. For the Rapid Mapping service, an efficient data sharing is equally important as the production of information, as it’s an essential element for timely support in cases of natural disasters, human-made emergency situations and humanitarian crises throughout the world.
The Rapid Mapping service delivers post-event crisis information in a very fast way, generally within hours from the disaster. Some of the most complex analyses, such as the damage assessment (grading product), are currently performed through visual interpretation of pre- and post-event images. This process can be fastidious and prone to omission and commission errors when covering large areas.
